Lost Light

As youth our world is so big

We see new things everyday

We discover the alphabet

We discover nature

We discover new hobbies

There are so many people around us who love us and think we’re amazing

That we have so much to live for

But as the years come and go so do they

No more visits

No more laughs

No more stories

Without the touch of others we tend to become our own friend

Our thoughts become our reality

Our opinions become our truth

We no longer enjoy the touch of another but we shy away from it as if it carries disease

Our friend tells us we’re no longer lovable

That we should hate ourselves for being the way that we are

Our friend has experienced love before but believes it has expired so we should no longer look for it

Our friend is hurting us but what else can we do?

We don’t have anybody else…

Wait…

What is that?

Who are they?

Are they….

Coming back to us?

Sitting beside us are all the friends and family we thought we lost along the way, but in truth, we never lost them, we were just lost in ourselves.
